Hey!
I'm Elke, the writer, director and producer of *69. Thanks so much for your interest in the film. It's been an insane ride. Lots of ups and downs, laughter and tears, joy and frustration. But, in the end, it was all worth it. I hope you enjoy the movie as much as I enjoyed making it. Your support means the world to me and it allows me to do more of what I love... making movies. It's because of you that I am able to continue to pursue my dreams. Thank you.
With All My Heart,
Elke
My Story
I knew I wanted to be a filmmaker since I was a little girl. I was obsessed with creating scenes in my mind and then executing them while playing childhood games like tag. I'd convince my friends to get into character and act like we were being chased by Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees or Freddy Krueger, roles that were always given to the biggest kid in the neighborhood. This twist on these games made them so much more exciting! Creativity became my fuel. It could take me anywhere I wanted to go, safely and effortlessly with zero doubts. How magical that felt!
With my first screenplay under my belt at age 11, and a sold out backyard performance, the fires had been stoked and I knew they could not be extinguished. The need to continue learning this amazing craft continued to burn into my adult years. I attended the New York Film academy in NYC and went on to direct several shorts. Optioning a few scripts and spending time in California honing my craft helped me learn how to manage not only the creative side, but the business side as well.
But, as so many people do, I let life get in the way and my dreams took a back seat for too long. And after a terrible hand injury left me disabled and depressed for two years, something finally clicked. Perhaps this was God's way of nudging me to get back on track. So, I decided to use what I realized was a "gift of time" to write, produce and direct my feature film "*69." During that time, I was hired to write and produce the 80's style horror film "Blood Night: The Legend of Mary Hatchet", which was later distributed by Lionsgate Films. "*69" took a long time to complete, but the experience it gave me was worth the wait. No film school could have ever taught me what I learned from working on this film. I'm grateful for all the support I've received from my mentors and collaborators, my co-producer Paul Del Vecchio, my sweetheart and my parents who are my biggest fans and understood more than anyone the need for me to pursue my dreams so I wouldn't feel dead inside.
